About Us

Pastors Eddie and Thandie Ngonelo began their long standing walk with Christ from as far back as 1986. They got born again simultaneously, firstly at a couples’ gathering, and then at a church service at Word Centre Ministries in Sebokeng, Gauteng. They have a deep passion for ministering to couples which they began to do in 1987 and they are also a living testimony that God is able to restore marriages.

1996 was a year in which a lot changed in the Ngonelo family. Pastor Eddie worked as a National Human Resources Manager for a private company based in Randburg, but during the course of this year he got transferred to Durban to take up the position of Regional Operations Manager for the same company. This meant leaving his wife Pastor Thandie behind with the kids, while she continued her teaching career. Little did they know that this trek to Kwazulu Natal was a part of a Grand Plan by God to establish a ministry that would further God’s work, especially in Kwazulu Natal.

During the second half of 1996 Pastor Eddie was prompted by the Holy Spirit to start a church, which he was at first reluctant about. In 1997 the whole family relocated to Durban and this was the beginning of it all. Act of Obedience Ministries was finally birthed on Sunday 8 March 1998. This 1st service was held at the Ngonelo residence in Westville with just 6 members: Pastors Eddie and Thandie, their 2 sons, daughter and the family dog, Sethu.

There was an old unused office in Brickhill Road, Durban in which their second church service was held. The services were held here until 2002. As the ministry was growing, a move to bigger and better premises in New Germany became necessary. In 2009 the church then moved again to its first permanent residence in 37 Qashana Khuzwayo Rd (formerly known as Shepstone Road).

Through the years the ministry has prospered and grown phenomenally to the point where another branch was established in Hammarsdale.
